In Need Of You
The phone rings off the wall
and my call goes unanswered.
The minutes I hang on
waiting for you to
pick
it up
seem like hours.
I keep calling back
hoping you'd
arrived in
between ...
since the last.
And each time I let it ring longer.
Perhaps hoping to catch you
just coming in,
or before going
out again.
But each time
the wait is lonelier.
It seems like the times
when I need you
the most
...
you're not there.
