Pieces Of Dreams
We spent hours
talking through the night,
kept warm from the heat of only
candlelight.
I told you deep, dark secrets
that had been bared to only a few,
to those I felt really cared.
We closed our eyes
and took trips together
around the world ...
around the room.
Then you would get up
and go into the
other
room,
I guess for a
glass of
water.
I would worry
if you were going to come back to me
or leave by the back door.
But I'd hear your footsteps.
then see your
silhouette
in the darkness,
and finally hold
you once
more
in my
arms
and I would sigh with relief.
But as the dawn broke
so did the magic
that held us
together.
I don't know what happened
just
that I saw a change in you.
You turned cold.
You turned away from me
and left me to pick up the pieces
of last night's
dreams ...
along.
But none of the pieces seem to fit.
Have you forgotten
we
were friends last night?
